State winner for Brandenburg

On 7 November 2024, KfW, the German federal development bank, honoured the winners of the KfW Award Gründen 2024 (KfW founders award). The award recognises young companies in their first five years of business. For the state of Brandenburg, it went to pyropower GmbH from Cottbus. In its statement, KfW highlights the technology that produces electricity, heat and biochar from biogenic residues in a single process while binding carbon in the char.

A year with several awards

In 2024 the KfW Award was one of several awards:

• In July 2024, Lucie Töpfer was honoured as a woman founder at the Gründungspreis Brandenburg.
• At the end of November 2024, pyropower won second prize in the Lausitz Goes International competition at the network meeting of the MinGenTec initiative in Cottbus.

For us, these awards are above all a recognition of the team that developed the technology from the first turbine to the Pyro-ClinX.

Media coverage

The Wirtschaftsförderung Land Brandenburg (Brandenburg Economic Development Agency) presented pyropower as an award winner in its newsletter. On 25 November 2024, the founders’ portal Für-Gründer.de portrayed pyropower in a series on state winners with sustainable business ideas, looking at the founding story, the technology and growth plans.

The KfW Award Gründen

With the KfW Award Gründen, the federal development bank honours young companies every year. A state winner is chosen in each federal state, and the jury selects the national winners from among them. For pyropower as a hardware company, the award in its third year of business was an important step in building trust with banks, partners and customers.
