The externally fired micro gas turbine is one of the driving forces behind our Pyro-ClinX pyrolysis plant. With this technology, pyropower GmbH offers a unique solution for post-conversion to electricity that does not require lubricants or coolants and is therefore particularly low-maintenance. By converting thermal energy into electrical energy, the micro gas turbine is ideal for companies that value sustainability, efficiency and long-term profitability.
Our microturbine relies on modern air bearings that eliminate the need for lubricants thanks to the use of film bearings. This approach not only reduces the environmental impact, but also extends the service life of the system and significantly minimizes maintenance costs. External firing makes it possible for residual materials such as pyrolysis gas to be used specifically for post-conversion without direct contact between fuels and the turbine components. This keeps the system clean and efficient.
Post-conversion from pyrolysis gases
The micro gas turbine utilizes the pyrolysis gas produced in the pyrolysis process to convert thermal energy into electrical energy. A sustainable process that makes optimum use of organic waste materials such as wood and biomass.
Coupled high-performance generators
The generator is directly connected to the connecting shaft of the microturbine and reliably converts the mechanical energy into electricity – ideal for operation in a CHP system or for feeding into the grid.
Low maintenance thanks to innovative air bearings
Thanks to the special air-bearing film plain bearings, no lubricants are required, which makes operation particularly sustainable and cost-efficient.

pyropower GmbH stands for engineering “Made in Germany” and is a global leader in the development of microturbines. From the design phase through to production, every component of the microturbine is well thought out and designed for maximum performance. This includes computer-aided design (CAD), analytical calculations and numerical simulations (FEM and CFD) as well as efficiency optimization of each component. The turbine components are specially adapted to the requirements of the externally fired microturbine.
This is achieved in particular through the use of high-temperature resistant alloys and ceramic materials. Our holistic approach encompasses the production and testing of every component: from turned parts and welded constructions to comprehensive test bench developments, all parts and processes are optimally coordinated. Thermal joining, component measurements and real-time evaluations ensure the highest quality and reliability of the micro gas turbines.

» Combustion air circuit (red): The hot air from combustion is used as heating or process heat – ideal for industrial applications.
» External air circuit (blue): Heated ambient air drives the microturbine and generates green electricity, reliably and independently.
» Turbine waste heat: The waste heat is used flexibly for biomass drying or in other processes.

Our microturbine has a modular design and can be optimally integrated into existing process applications. In addition to the turbo assembly, consisting of the compressor wheel, turbine wheel and connecting shaft, the system also includes modules such as the generator, power electronics and control system, which ensure constant energy conversion. The high level of flexibility enables the use of a wide variety of fuels and can be seamlessly integrated into the existing infrastructure.
Decentralized and scalable energy supply
Pyro-ClinX enables flexible, location-independent energy projects that can be adapted to local conditions as required. The heat and electricity generated can either be used on site or fed into the public grid, opening up a wide range of possible uses.
